Reading Online Challenges

Today in reading we were playing online challenge games. In this activity we had to play 3 games. We were practing our reading skills like inferencing, synthesizing, skimming and scanning, questioning and making connections to the game. I have enjoyed all of these games because it helps me step up my reading skills.

Sketch Note: The Sons Of Ma'afu

Today I have been finishing off my reading tasks. Our reading tasks were based on a true story which is called The Sons Of Ma'afu. I have did all my tasks except this last one. The last task was drawing a sketch note of the story. As you can see I have re telled the story in my own way of understanding by drawing it. 

Current Events: Homeless

Today for reading I have been working a D.L.O about the Homeless. I have watched a video and a supportive person has been sleeping outside with the rest of the community. They had a fun raise called Life Wise Sleep out. Catherine gathered as much people like famous people to support this event and raise money for the homeless. 

Reading Games

 Today in reading, everyone was playing a reading game. There were so many reading games to pick. The reading game that I chose was the Deduction and a non fiction game I really enjoyed these game and it also helped me as well by memorizing what it meant.

Super Smog In China Follow up

This week for reading we have been talking about the super smog in China. We were given this follow up to complete. To complete this follow up we had to read through it and see what it was like for us using Text - Self Text - Text & Text - World . I was reading through this article and the picture with the lady looking at a phone during the smog reminded me that doctors in the hospital wear the same mask.

Making A Connection: Super Smog In China

For reading this week we have been learning about the smog in China. We learned about what it can do to people, animals and insects. We learned the consequences and what we could do to fight that pollution. My partner and I have played a game online explain how to make a connection weather it is strong or weak. We have made a D.l.O about this and explained what we were doing.

SPaG Punctuation

For SPaG this week, my group and I have created a D.L.O. about punctuation like using comma's and full stop's. In this activity we had to fix some sentences like for example "Lets eat Mrs Anderson!" that just tells me that we are going to to Mrs Anderson. When I fixed it and put a comma between eat and Mrs, this is what it sounded like "Lets Eat, Mrs Anderson!" For this activity I was learning to understand how to put punctuation in the right place, to make it make sense.

Family Tree D.L.O.

For reading this week we have been reading about China, about how their life goes. China was only aloud one child, and if they more than one child, that child will be sent to a foster care or to be sent somewhere dumped. I have made a D.L.O. about there family tree compared to mine. I have a lot of siblings, but every time I look at I feel terrible. I am lucky to have a big family, and without them I would have a family like China.

Using The 6 Think Hats To Explore A Ballad Poem

Today for reading the whole class have been synthesizing about a video clip about Charlotte Anne. She was a hero. She was the first ever women to where men trousers and rugged boots. She broke the and proved that women can do anything that men can do. If it wasn't for her we would still be wearing longs skirts and cleaning houses.

Synthesizing About Gorillas

Today in reading my partner and I have been synthesizing about gorilla's. First we had to start off with what we already knew about gorilla's then we wrote down what we found out and what our new thinking was. When we started we thought gorilla's were just hairy huge fat eating banana apes were just aggressive but when we got to learn more we found out they were endangered species. When we herd that they were endangered we thought we should care and respect them, show how important they are and preventing them from extinction. In this activity, I have learnt to synthesize about gorilla's.

Synthesizing

Today for reading I have created a cover for my biography of Sacajawea using what we already knew about them and what we found out after researching. The new information helped us think about their picture would look like, what the title might be and what background would match their achievements.

Word Clines

For reading I have made a D.L.O called word clines. I have chosen a word and that word is cold. I have made it into a interesting word. This task is found in our can do's.

Flags

For reading I have created a D.L.O about what is so different about these 2 flags. I have researched a lot about the white flag. What was so interesting was how there is a shield on the white one but not the current flag. For this task I was learning to use my research skills.

The Fantastic Facts Challenge

I have done another can do, and this can do is called the fantastic facts challenge. I got to chose my own topic and find out a lot about it. My topic was ice hockey. I have learnt so much about ice hockey.

Characters: In the story the characters is Minnie,Freddy.	Plot: The story is about Minnie and Freddy. Freddy wants to play with Minnie but she is too busy eating Spaghetti.
Problem: The problem was that Minnie wouldn’t play with Freddy cause she was too busy eating Spaghetti and Freddy was sad.	Solution: They solved the problem by playing with each other again and Minnie said “I will play with you” and they played together again.
Your opinion of the story: For my opinion on the story was the story was interesting and the story made me realise I want to play with my friends when they need me and I also love Spaghetti.	Illustration of a character doing something from the story

Characters: In the story the characters were Mum,Izzy,Photo	Plot: This story was about a girl called Izzy and how she found a picture of her Mum and a Man on her wedding picture. And
Problem: The problem is Izzy found a photo with her Mum and Men that was called Rod and he wasn’t her Dad.	Solution: The solution was when Izzy asked if Mum wasn’t happy with Dad and Mum said that wasn’t going to happen. And Izzy was happy.

Tiakina A Tangaroa Protect Our Sea

One morning these kids were going to the sea. before they had to go to the sea they went to the swimming pool because these more space in the swimming they went to the swimming pool because they had to practice how to swim in the pool then they went to the sea when they got to the sea put on their tops then they went into the sea they saw lot of fish and other thing in the water also they make sure the fish was nice and healthy.

When they came out from the water they saw garbage on the beach and they were very disappointed so they picked up the rubbish on the ground. At the end they called everyone and they came and had a celebration for the creature that lives in the sea.

Camping Holiday

Once there lived a family with a brother and a sister. Dad came back from work with a new tent. His son Jake and his daughter Kimba helped put up the tent in the backyard. Kimba sat proudly in the doorway. She thought it was a new kennel just for herself.

Dad said “We’re not staying in a motel these holidays.....We’re going camping.” Mum said “It will be so quiet”. Dad said “No shops and no telephones. Just the trees, the birds and lots of fishing”. Kimba said “What about tv?” and then Dad said “Who needs tv”. Mum packed boxes of canned food and Dad also packed the fishing rod and the gas cooker. Dad got Kimba’s dog bowl and her mat to lie on.

When they were about to leave dad said don’t forget anything because we are not coming back and there aren't any shops. Dad checked all of the stuff that they needed and they were off. They left the city behind and drove out through the countryside and while they were in the car Kimba and Jake played I Spy. Meanwhile the got to there and they helped unpack the stuff and when they were doing that they said that they forgot the tent.

So after that they put their stuff away in the car and they went home.
